![]() For instance, ASTI, maker of the Sound+Sleep and the LectroFan, was born when its founder noticed while on a trip to the beach that the sound of the ocean reminded him of the freeway noises outside his home (but more relaxing). But they may also mask offending noises, if they're similar enough. If you happen to find these sounds soothing, they might help you sleep or focus. Some white noise machines, such as the Sound+Sleep, also offer real-world sounds like that of rain, river, and ocean waves. However, if you have the sort of tinnitus that sounds like ringing in your ears, the steady, higher-frequency sound of white or blue noise may offer relief. That’s inefficient and unkind to your ears. In contrast, white noise, whose sound graph is a straight, horizontal line, won’t block the high-intensity low frequencies of a garbage truck until you ramp up the volume. For instance, the rumble of garbage trucks, the sound graph for which looks like a downward slope (as long as the X axis is linear), is handily masked by brown noise even at a relatively low volume, because brown noise is characterized by a lot of low frequencies and a similar downward-sloping sound graph. But a smarter way to mask noise is to choose the color with higher intensity in the frequencies matching that of the noise you’re trying to block, explained sound engineer Stéphane Pigeon. The white, pink, and brown noises you tend to find in sound generators can all mask annoying sounds to varying degrees, if you turn the volume up enough. To understand how noises mask each other, we spent hours talking on the phone and emailing with Stéphane Pigeon, PhD, a sound engineer specializing in white noise and the creator of myNoise, our favorite white noise app. ![]() (ASTI), the maker of two of our picks, the LectroFan EVO and the Sound+Sleep. We also interviewed UPenn scientist Mathias Basner, MD, PhD, a professor of sleep and chronobiology in the department of psychiatry who co-authored a clinical review of studies on the use of white noise as a sleep aid, as well as Stanford University sleep researcher Rafael Pelayo, MD, author of How to Sleep: The New Science-Based Solutions for Sleeping Through the Night and a medical consultant to Adaptive Sound Technologies Inc. To learn what features to look for in white noise machines, we spoke with Michael Perlis, PhD, director of the behavioral sleep medicine program at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine whose work includes studying the use of white noise machines in treating insomnia.

These products create the distinctive and timeless look of bronze and copper patina or the weathered appearance of rusted iron in a matter of minutes, on any paintable surface. Pretty cool, huh? The best part is that we didn’t even use half of the paint, primer, and patina solution, so we can still do another project or two. We let it dry overnight and when we came back the next morning it looked like this. Once you spray the patina aging solution, the paint begins to turn dark blue within a few minutes, but you have to let it dry to get the full effect. Here’s what the pot looked like after primer and paint. There was an instruction booklet in the box, but the directions are pretty simple: two coats of primer, two coats of bronze paint, then spritz with the patina aging solution while the paint is still wet. We decided to transform a decorative pot we found at the thrift store. They have three finishes, blue patina, green patina, or rust, and we chose to work with blue patina. The closure came as a result of poor reception and performance of the studio's final internally developed game, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. In June 2023, Daedalic shuttered its development division, affecting 25 of its more than 90 employees. The acquisition was confirmed in April 2022. Nacon announced its intent to acquire Daedalic in February 2022 through purchase of all controlling shares of the company for an estimated $60 million. In early 2021, the Düsseldorf and Munich studios entered liquidation the former had been inactive since after creative director Andreas Suika left in August 2019 for Epic Games, while the latter was emptied in late 2020 with all employees rehired by other Munich-based developers. In August 2018, as Bastei Lübbe faced severe financial issues, the company started considering to sell their 51% stake in Daedalic. The new studio would consist of eight people, led by Oliver Machek, formerly of Klonk Games, as studio director and creative director, and by Stephan Harms, chief operating officer of Daedalic, as CEO. In February 2018, Daedalic opened a third studio, this time in Munich under the name Daedalic Entertainment Bavaria. In November 2016, Daedalic laid off twelve of its roughly 150 employees, primarily from the production and marketing departments, and opted not to renew several temporary contracts. The following July, Daedalic opened a subsidiary studio, Daedalic Entertainment Studio West, in Düsseldorf. In May 2014, German publisher Bastei Lübbe acquired a majority share of 51% in Daedalic Entertainment. A year later, a new adventure named Deponia was released to the market, which received several awards as well. In 2011, the sequel to Edna & Harvey: The Breakout was released with the title Harvey’s New Eyes. On 28 August 2009, the adventure game The Whispered World followed and the adventure title A New Beginning, which focuses on climate change, was published on 8 October 2010. Shortly afterwards, the adventure game 1½ Knights – In Search of the Ravishing Princess Herzelinde was developed, named after the same film. Prior to founding Daedalic, Fichtelmann was marketing director for German publisher DTP Entertainment. Please follow these instructions for the Bone-In or Boneless Spiral Sliced Ham to enhance the ease of serving and to maintain its peak flavor. There are several ways to reheat your slices of ham. Leftover ham may be frozen in pieces or as a big chunk for 1 to 2 months if wrapped properly. Refrigerate leftover ham covered in aluminum foil or plastic wrap for 3 to 5 days. To defrost your frozen ham faster, place it in a basin filled with cold water and submerge it thoroughly. If you are reheating frozen ham, make sure to completely defrost it before reheating. When the ham has warmed enough, remove it from the oven. The time required to reheat it depends on how many ham slices you have and how thick the slices are. Heat for 10 minutes, or until the ham is warm, turning the ham slices over after 5 minutes to heat the ham evenly.Ĭheck the ham’s temperature. You can also add a tablespoon of water to the bottom of the lined pan for added moisture. Ensure that they are distributed evenly and not overlapping.Ĭover the pan with aluminum foil to preserve the moisture of the ham slices. This way, the ham slices will not stick to the pan.Īrrange the ham slices on the baking pan evenly. Line a baking pan with parchment paper or grease it with a bit of cooking oil. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. You can also use your oven to reheat your ham slices. Remove the ham from the microwave and uncover it. Touch or tear off a little piece of ham and taste it to see if it is warm. Remember to never use aluminum foil in the microwave.Ĭheck the ham’s temperature. If your microwave-safe dish has sides, add a tablespoon of water to add more moisture. Allow enough space between the slices so that each slice heats properly.Ĭover the ham slices with a damp paper towel to prevent them from drying out. Arrange them in a single layer, making sure they don’t overlap. Put the ham slices on a microwaveable tray. However, this method can dry out your food easily, so follow the steps below. This kitchen appliance can make your ham slices warm again in just a couple of minutes. Once the ham slices are warm, remove them from the frying pan.Īnother way you can try to reheat your ham is by using a microwave. Heat the ham slices for 3-4 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired temperature. If you have many slices of ham, distribute them evenly so they don’t overlap. To avoid oil splatters, carefully lower the ham slices into the pan, sliding the edge away from you last. Preheat a frying pan greased with cooking oil over medium heat. The process is simple and produces great results. One of the most effective methods for reheating your ham slices is using a frying pan on the stovetop. If done the right way, you can enjoy delicious hot ham with your next meal. Read carefully to learn how to reheat ham slices. You can choose to reheat your ham in a frying pan, in the microwave, or in the oven. Are you wondering how to reheat ham slices? This article will guide you through the reheating processes that will keep them moist and delicious. If calculation results in CG=30%MAC, you need to locate that spot on the MAC, then project that spot to the fuse. Please note that MAC is somewhere outboard on the wing/stab. Try to locate your CG as close as you can to the calculated value. Choose the static margin you want (I typically choose 15%) and let this program calculate the ideal CG for the airframe. Wing AC or stab AC, by convention, are located at 25% MAC of each surface. Tail moment is distance between wing AC and stab AC. Go to this site, and plug in your model's fundamental areas, moments etc. Here is a link to the trimming method I used.It works well. I may experiment with adding more positive incidence and take out the down thrust to see where that gets me. Down lines still required 2% down elevator mix, but the up-lines cleaned up after doing that. ![]() One other change I made was I added a little down thrust using one washer which helped the pull to the canopy on up\down lines. I just followed the Triangulation Trimming Method as close as possible. Any recommended incidence is just a base reference for you. The airplane will let you know what it wants and that's how I went about it. I initially set up my incidence with a borrowed H9 meter but I could never get a consistent reading with it so I gave up and just went flying. That gave me pause! Again, I think I will leave it at the 0.5-0.6 for now based on your post (without Gators, tweaking CG is dicey as stock) which is a good thing since my H9 incidence meter just died! I will soon have to replace it, any recommendations? Thx! Could some of this ''where should my batteries be'' back and forth on the threads be due to variations in batches or even individual examples? Anyway, the choice of wing incidence is my next question with a post above about pushing towards 0.8 - 1deg. After all, it is balsa and ply and those materials must be very difficult to keep constant at this price point. The idea of batch variation, at minimum from last year's fin/rudder design to this year's new config, grows stronger in my mind. Also, I have been thinking that this design has a very wide CG range which makes it forgiving to those of us who are relative new to pattern (this is my second season and first 2m ship) and your observation above supports that thought. ![]() Your reported flight experience increases my confidence that the config is in fact, very close. Was thinking maybe I should move the packs back again towards the 181 end of my range but now after reading your post above, I am not going to make any changes unless we observe some new flight charateristic that needs to be addressed. ![]() That said, last night I put mine back up on the balance to re-check CG (still at 186 after a minor repair undid some recent weight reductions LOL) AND have a cold hard look at the elevators as trimmed: they were nearly neutral, just a hair of up, less than 1mm. There were at least 2 other Vanquishes at Pocono pattern last weekend with batteries more forward than mine and I have read about many others out there on these threads with packs more forward than mine. Other than that, no other bad tendency anywhere else flying the Advanced schedule. I do have a slight pull to the right on exit when pushing to inverted for the full roll outside loop and I have not found a satisfactory fix for it yet. I am at about 200 or so flights with it this way. The plane fly's well in advanced for me with this setup. I installed gator adjusters on the front which made incidence adjustments much easier, It was well worth the time to install them. I made adjustments to my incidence until my up trim went away and to set the aileron trim. I am using a Himax 210 and a heavy APC prop so take that into consideration with your setups. I just kept moving my packs back until pitch coupling went away on knife edge. ![]() In my experience, the Vanquish is not real cg sensitive as I have moved my packs around without much trim change. I have my cg set at 190 which puts my packs about 1inch or so in front of the wing tube. ![]() ![]() A booster dose of the vaccine is not needed. A single dose of yellow fever vaccine is sufficient to grant sustained immunity and life-long protection against yellow fever disease. Yellow fever is prevented by an effective vaccine, which is safe and affordable. ![]() Death can occur within 7 - 10 days in about half of cases with severe symptoms. Bleeding can occur from the mouth, nose, eyes, or stomach. These individuals can have more severe symptoms of high-grade fever, abdominal pain with vomiting, jaundice and dark urine caused by acute liver and kidney failure. A small percentage of cases progress to a toxic phase with systemic infection affecting the liver and kidneys. In most cases, symptoms disappear after 3 to 4 days. Many people do not experience symptoms, but when they occur, the most common are fever, muscle pain with prominent back pain, headache, loss of appetite, and nausea or vomiting. The incubation period ranges from 3 to 6 days. Yellow fever is an epidemic-prone, vaccine-preventable disease caused by an arbovirus transmitted to humans by the bites of infected Aedes and Haemagogus mosquitoes. This may contribute to the gradual downward trend in reported confirmed cases in 2022, but should be noted that there is also variation in virus transmission dynamics that are difficult to predict. Increasing population immunity through past and ongoing Preventive Mass Vaccination Campaigns (PMVC) supported through the EYE Strategy, and Reactive Vaccination Campaigns (RVC) have increased population immunity rapidly in implementing countries which has contributed to reducing the risk of spread of yellow fever in targeted countries. Uganda has recently rolled-out yellow fever into the Routine Immunization programme. Country-specific estimates of vaccination coverage for 2021 are 54% in Cameroon, 41% in the Central African Republic, 45% in Chad, 67% in the Republic of the Congo, 65% in Côte d’Ivoire, 56% in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, 64% in Gabon, 94% in Ghana, 7% in Kenya, 80% in Niger (subnational introduction limited to four counties in 2021), 63% in Nigeria and 85% in Sierra Leone. Overall, about 71% of confirmed cases are aged 30 years and below, and children aged 10 years and below are disproportionately affected.Īccording to the WHO/UNICEF Estimates of National Immunization Coverage (WUENIC), in 2021 routine immunization coverage against yellow fever in the African Region for childhood vaccinations was 48%, much lower than the 80% threshold required to confer population immunity against yellow fever, indicating the presence of an underlying susceptible population at risk of yellow fever and the risk of continued transmission. The most affected age group amongst confirmed cases in 2021 was 10 years and below meanwhile, the most affected group in 2022 is 20 to 30 years old. The male-to-female ratio among confirmed cases is not significantly different in 20 (1.3 and 1.6 respectively). The high overall CFR among confirmed cases in 2021 (17 deaths, 11%) continued in 2022 (six deaths, 12%). Of these, 23 deaths have been reported among confirmed cases (CFR among confirmed cases 11%) (Table 1). Since 2021, a total of 203 confirmed and 252 probable cases with 40 deaths and a CFR of 9% have been reported. One country, Gabon, reported an isolated confirmed case in 2021, but no further cases were registered in 2022. Eight of these countries are experiencing a continuation of transmission from 2021 (Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Nigeria, and the Republic of the Congo) and four countries are newly reporting confirmed cases (Kenya, Niger, Sierra Leone and Uganda). In 2022, 12 countries in the WHO African Region have reported confirmed cases of yellow fever (Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Kenya, Niger, Nigeria, the Republic of the Congo, Sierra Leone and Uganda). However, the countries remain at high risk. Recent Reactive Vaccination Campaigns increase population immunity and may have contributed to reducing the risk of yellow fever spread in targeted countries, resulting in a gradual downward trend in reported confirmed cases in 2022. Risk factors for further yellow fever spread and amplification include low population immunity, population movements, viral transmission dynamics, and climate and environmental factors that have contributed to the spread of Aedes mosquitoes. This is an update on the yellow fever situation in the WHO African Region since the last disease outbreak news was published on 2 September 2022.įrom 1 January 2021 to 7 December 2022, a total of 203 confirmed and 252 probable cases with 40 deaths (Case Fatality Ratio 9%) were reported to WHO from 13 countries in the WHO African Region. ![]()
